A drive to improve my portraiture saw a consolidated period of working with the most readily available and free model.
The first 3 self portraits were conducted in parallel to attending oil portrait classes in Dorchester under the tuition of James Mekeljohn.
The 2020 Lockdown then descended on us with classes closing.
Portraits 4 to 10 were produced during that phase in my own studio at home between March and June.
Portrait 2 - me in blue woolly hat, was awarded a 'Highly Commended' comment from the judges of the TALP online exhibition for which it was later displayed.
TALP (The Artist and Leisure Painting competition) is the annual open exhibition usually hosted at Patching Festival in Nottingham: Covid saw it exhibited via online medium.
All oil on canvas / board.
